Teena May began playing music by ear at age four, later studying classical piano and teaching herself guitar and songwriting in college, though she long saw music as just a hobby. After writing seriously in Brooklyn from 2012 and having a breakthrough moment at a 2022 New Orleans open mic, she embraced music as her true calling. She now performs her 200+ song Country, Pop, Folk, and Americana catalogue across the U.S., Paris, Montreal, and beyond, appearing solo, as a duo, or with a full folk band.
