Las Melodías de la Luna is bringing a fresh point of view to the mezcal world with a woman-owned brand rooted in tradition, culture, and standout flavor. Crafted from 100% pure agave, the label blends ancestral process with a refined, contemporary sensibility that feels both elevated and deeply intentional.
Founded by Jacqui Thompson and Ingrid Chavez, the brand reflects a powerful intersection of music, legacy, and entrepreneurship. Thompson previously managed Prince’s Paisley Park recording studios and co-founded the PRN Alumni Foundation, while Chavez built an acclaimed career as a songwriter, producer, poet, and artist whose credits include work with Madonna, Lenny Kravitz, and Prince. Their shared love of mezcal and music helped shape the vision behind Las Melodías de la Luna.
A standout in the collection is the cacao-distilled mezcal, described in the release as the first of its kind to launch in the U.S. market. With notes of minerality, clay, white pepper, plant sweetness, and a delicate cacao finish, it offers a flavor profile that feels distinctive without losing its connection to tradition.
That balance of heritage and innovation is also reflected in the brand’s partnership with Rosario Ángeles, a young distiller in Oaxaca whose approach honors ancestral mezcal-making while pushing into new territory. The result is a small-batch spirit with authenticity, character, and clear creative identity.
Since launching in 2022, Las Melodías de la Luna has already earned major recognition, including Double Gold and Best in Class Finalist at the 2025 San Francisco Spirits Competition for its Espadín expression, Gold for its Cacao expression, a Gold Medal Brand of Promise from Tequila Aficionado, and a Silver Medal at the 2024 San Diego Spirits Festival.
