The Bamboula Jazz Cohort is a collective of New Orleans musicians invited annually by Jazz Generations Initiative (JGI) co-founder Dr. Courtney Bryan to collaborate around the multigenerational and interdisciplinary aspects of jazz in curating, producing, and composing work that honors the opportunity to converse intentionally around a wide variety of topics spanning: healing, democracy, creolité, and more.

Tonight’s concert introduces the first Bamboula Jazz Cohort, the first in a series of performances featuring the musician collective a part of the Bamboula: Jazz Studies in Motion program of JGI.

Dr. Courtney Bryan herself is expected to sit in with the cohort, and a few surprise guests will be announced soon as a part of this special festival week show.
