Miles Davis at 100: Global Celebrations Across Music, Art, Fashion & Beyond
Today marks what would have been the 100th birthday of Miles Davis, one of the most influential and transformative artists in modern culture. A visionary trumpeter, composer, bandleader, painter and style icon, Davis reshaped music and creative expression across five decades, leaving a legacy that continues to influence generations across jazz, hip-hop, fashion, film and visual art.
To honor the centennial milestone, the Miles Davis Estate and Reservoir Media have launched an expansive global celebration spanning concerts, exhibitions, listening events, fashion collaborations, film projects and archival releases.
This week’s celebrations include the premiere of The Voice of Miles: A Symphonic Celebration at National Sawdust in New York City, pairing Davis’ original trumpet recordings with newly commissioned orchestral arrangements. The New York Public Library will also host a special event tied to the newly reissued centennial edition of Miles: The Autobiography, featuring panelists including Erin Davis and Vince Wilburn Jr.
Additional events include Rhino Records’ Miles & Quincy Live at Montreux listening session at Rough Trade NYC, plus Muted Genius, a screening and discussion presented by The Apollo Theater and Carnegie Hall’s United In Sound: America at 250.
Exhibitions celebrating Davis’ cultural impact are currently on display at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles, Mr. Musichead, Morrison Hotel Gallery and the Cooper Hewitt Museum in New York City.
The centennial celebration also reaches into fashion, technology and film. Off-White recently debuted its Mr. Davis: The Spirit of Miles Davis collection during Paris Fashion Week, while SiriusXM launched a dedicated Miles Davis Radio channel. Slack users can now experience Miles Davis music and artwork directly within the platform’s Huddles feature.
Meanwhile, Sony Legacy, Blue Note, Rhino and Craft Recordings are releasing a series of special reissues and remastered projects honoring Davis’ catalog, including The Complete Live At The Plugged Nickel 1965, Miles ‘56: The Prestige Recordings and a Tone Poet edition of Birth Of The Cool.
Live tributes continue throughout 2026 with Miles Electric Band featuring Vince Wilburn Jr., Darryl Jones and Keyon Harrold, alongside additional celebrations planned at Newport Jazz Festival, Blue Note New York and the Hollywood Bowl.
