All-star lineup, fireworks, surprises set for world’s biggest dance party July 4th

40,000+ expected for 25th anniversary celebration of Chicago house music

(CHICAGO)—The world’s biggest dance party just got bigger, with extended hours, fireworks and a slew of events announced today by the Chosen Few DJs  collective for their 25th annual “Chosen Few Old School Reunion Picnic” weekend, July 2-5, 2015 in Chicago.

Nicknamed the “Woodstock of House Music” for its family reunion vibe, the signature July 4th picnic is expected to draw more than 40,000 fans to Chicago’s Jackson Park to celebrate house music. It is believed to be the world’s oldest and largest single-day event dedicated to the dance genre.

 

Picnic hours are extended by one hour—from 8 AM to 9 PM (park opens at 6 AM)—and will feature

performances by GRAMMY-winning and nominated recording artists Stephanie MillsEvelyn “Champagne” King and Cory Daye, plus sets from guest DJs Masters At Work duo Louie Vega and Kenny Dope Gonzalez, Derrick CarterStan ZeffKeith Fobs and Greg Gray. Rounding out entertainment are the Chosen Few DJs: Wayne Williams, Jesse Saunders, Tony Hatchett, Alan King, Andre Hatchett, Terry Hunter and Mike Dunn.

 

Special surprises are planned throughout the day and evening, as is a 25th anniversary fireworks display at 9 PM.

  • Thursday, July 2: Opening party at Promontory, 5311 S Lake Park Ave, Chicago
  • Friday, July 3: Official pre-picnic party at Grandbar, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Chicago
  • Saturday, July 4: Official after parties at Smart Bar Chicago, 3730 N Clark St, and Da House Spot, 7130 S. South Chicago Ave., Chicago
  • Sunday, July 5:  Send-off party, venue to be announced
