BUST A MOVE tells the story of how Delicious Vinyl grew out of a modest apartment on Santa Monica Boulevard and helped drive a crucial turning point in hip-hop history through landmark releases by Young MC, Tone Loc, Mellow Man Ace, and others. Published by Kensington Books and featuring a foreword by B-Real of Cypress Hill, the book captures a singular Los Angeles moment when an independent label helped push rap music further into the pop mainstream. At the center of the story is Matt Dike, the brilliant and elusive creative force whose work helped define the label at its peak and whose disappearance from the scene became part of his mythology. The June 24 GRAMMY Museum® event brings together key voices connected to Delicious Vinyl’s history for a live Los Angeles conversation about the records, the scene, and the cultural shift that came out of that era.
