Phil Melancon is a longtime New Orleans musician, songwriter, and entertainer whose career spans decades of performing, recording, and composing. He began as the resident songwriter for the legendary WWL children’s television show Popeye and Pals and went on to become a fixture of the city’s music scene, with celebrated residencies at the Columns Hotel and more than twenty years at the Bayou Bar in the Pontchartrain Hotel. Throughout his career, Melancon has produced numerous cabaret shows, recorded over a dozen albums, and composed music for film, earning a reputation as one of New Orleans’ most versatile and enduring musical talents..
