07:00 PM - 11:00 pm

Started in 1981 as a group of friends who had a love of traditional New Orleans music, the Storyville Stompers have grown to become one of the preeminent brass bands in the nation, having played throughout the US, Europe, South America and Asia. The band continues to play New Orleans-music in the traditional style, a music considered the foundation for traditional Jazz.

It was once written that, “The Storyville Stompers are an integral part of the brass band scene with a big fat sound and plenty of spirit … the group is one of a handful of ensembles carrying on the tradition with a repertoire of classic jazz tunes too rarely heard these days.”

With over 40 years of performances, including numerous festivals, parades and galas, the Storyville Stompers were awarded “Best Traditional Brass Band” in 2010 and 2011 by Gambit Weekly’s Big Easy Music Awards, among many other nominations. It is safe to say that the Stompers have become a staple in the New Orleans brass band tradition.

Tonight, we invite you to join us for our annual Birthday Tribute and Celebration of Life of Snug Harbor’s second owner, longtime manager and friend, the late Wesley Schmidt (1951 – 2019), also a founding member and Grand Marshall of the Storyville Stompers.
