NEW RELEASE: Like Roses EP by Juakali on Foreign Familiar

1-1

From the Sub Swara vault there existed a riddim known as “Smokin”. Appearing elusively on one of their infamous mixes/podcasts, Jua heard and then adopted the riddim to provide social commentary on the populist narrative of governance and privilege. From his unique perspective, Jua likens this narrative to the age old adage about the beauty of a rose bush: “every rose has its thorn”. With both jungle and reggae remixes to the original, Jua provides much needed reflection with an undertow of resistance.
