The culture we love exists because of people who dedicated their lives to creating spaces for us to dance, connect, heal, celebrate, and be free.
Too often, we wait until someone is gone to talk about their impact.
At Brooklyn Is House: Generations of Groove, we’re choosing to celebrate these legends, culture keepers, and community builders while they’re still here to receive the love.
This year, NYC Council Member Chi Ossé will join us again to personally present official New York City Council Citations to six extraordinary individuals whose contributions have helped shape the cultural fabric of New York City.
A City Council Citation is one of the City’s highest forms of civic recognition, honoring individuals whose work has made a lasting impact on our communities.
