NOLA Resistance Quintet (NRQ) is a New Orleans-based jazz ensemble made up of five veteran musicians deeply rooted in the city’s rich musical tradition. Blending jazz, funk, and modern improvisation, the group brings “an ear to the past with eyes to the future,” reimagining the spirit of New Orleans jazz pioneers while pushing the music into bold contemporary territory. Their sound combines soulful grooves, inventive arrangements, and fearless creativity, capturing both the history and evolving energy of the Crescent City.
Featuring acclaimed musicians Darrell Lavigne, Chris Severin, Herman LeBeaux, Roderick Paulin, and Andrew Baham, NRQ has quickly become a standout force on the New Orleans jazz scene. Their recordings and live performances showcase collaborations with artists including Branford Marsalis, Quiana Lynell, and Phillip Manuel, while their music reflects themes of resilience, hope, and social consciousness.
